BK Lobster Williamsburg

BK Lobster is a one-of-a-kind experience offering the finest lobster that you can get in all of NYC. The Williamsburg location is their newest location that opened during the middle of COVID, so be sure to go by and support them since the indoor dining capacity has increased to 35% (since February 26th). Make sure to grab the Bed-Stuy Biggie when you go and thank us later.

Rain Eatery and Juice Bar

Rain Eatery and Juice Bar is a beautiful spot in Prospect Lefters Garden serving authentic caribbean food and healthy seafood to all of Brooklyn. Our favorite thing on the menu is their amazing coconut shrimp and the mac n’ cheese. Head over to Brooklyn to get some delicious Trinidadian food ASAP.

Cafe on Ralph

Cafe on Ralph is a hidden-gem over in Bed-Stuy that is a manifestation of the dream and hard work of a young-mother, Donna, who came to the United States from St. Lucia with her son Jamal, her now business partner in Cafe on Ralph. Jamal went to school for hospitality management and joined his mother to breathe life into Cafe on Ralph and overhaul the spot, interweaving his personality into the Cafe on Ralph experience. In addition to Cafe on Ralph, Donna owns Brooklyn Beso Restaurant and Bar and two daycare centers. Drop by Cafe on Ralph and grab a cup of joe ASAP.

Yu Interiors

Yu Interiors is tucked away in the charming neighborhood of Fort Greene, filled with beautiful, whimsical treasures hand-picked by the owner, Ludlow Beckett, a black-man who left corporate America to build a different life and leave the stress of the banking world behind. He opened Yu Interiors in 1999, marking 22 years of business in Brooklyn. You can find wonderful, unique furniture, soaps, kitchenware, books, lamps, and lovely pieces for your home all inside of this magical spot in Brooklyn. When you stop by, make sure to introduce yourself to Ludlow. You’ll recognize him by his infectious smile.

BCakeNY

BCakeNY was born from Miriam Milord’s passion for baking special cakes for her close family and friends for events and moments of celebration. After moving to Brooklyn in 2000, Miriam made a career as a designer for a prominent art gallery in NYC. Finally following her passion, she founded BCakeNY, offering her delicious creations to all of NYC. BCakeNY specializes in unique, custom, and creative cakes for every occasion. The craftsmanship and attention to detail on her cakes are truly insane. Call Miriam the next time you’re looking for a cake for any occasion.

Cake Boi Shop

Cake Boi Shop is a super fun bakery in Brooklyn located at 627 Throop Avenue in Bed-Stuy owned by Brookyln native Khayri Ayres. Khayri was dubbed the nickname “Cake Boi” by his basketball coach back in high school because he was known for bringing in treats for all of his friends. Khayri got the last laugh when he became an entrepreneur and business owner at just 27 years old, opening Cake Boi in Brooklyn and serving delicious treats to more than just his high school friends. Swing by Cake Boi next time you’re in Brooklyn and grab a Biggie cookie for us.

Milk and Pull

Milk and Pull was founded by Joe and Angela Austin, a couple that has been together for over 16 years and has successfully been bringing love to Brooklyn in the form of coffee since 2013. With now three locations, the Austin family has found a loyal following of customers who rave about their coffee and wonderful atmosphere, customer service, and character. Support the Austin family by dropping by Milk and Pull at one of their three locations in Bushwick, Ridgewood, and Bed-Stuy.

HealHaus

HealHaus is an environment in Brooklyn that is dedicated to your individual healing journey, no matter what it is or what it looks like. HealHaus was born out of divine intention and connection when Darian Hall and Elisa Shankle simultaneously experienced monumental shifts in their lives and saw that the wellness industry is missing some crucial components; inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility. “We’re not telling people what they need to do,” Elisa says of the à la carte approach. “It’s like, ‘Yo, this is your healing journey.’ It’s supposed to be messy. It’s not very linear. You explore your own healing process by discovering what works for you in a community where you can feel supported.” The journey may lead you to Vinyasa yoga, Zen Shiatsu bodywork, cupping, mindful breath meditation, couples therapy, reiki or Adinkra ancestral readings — all offered at HealHaus in a serene setting mapped out by Elisa, an interior designer who brought this dream space to fruition alongside the wonderful founders. Currently, due to COVID restrictions, HealHaus offerings are through Zoom. You can sign up for $30 a month to have access to online classes here.

Fresh From Hell

Fresh from Hell is a healthy juice and acai stop in Hell’s Kitchen, offering delicious and healthy options for you to grab and go. Choose from any of their amazing juices, smoothies, and bowls to get some clean energy and fuel for a busy day in the city.

Whipped Desert Lab

Whipped Desert Lab is a black-female-owned dessert shoppe in the Lower East Side off of Orchard Street. They are the world’s first Oat Milk Soft Serve shop and have trademarked their Ice Creme and they ship nationwide which is incredible in so many ways. Explore their menu online here and drool over everything they offer.

Peaches

If you’re missing southern food (all my shrimp and grits people know) you need to go to Brooklyn STAT. Peaches has several options to curb your craving for Southern soul-food and you can view their entire menu here. They have an amazing dinner and the breakfast lineup is truly insane. Go no further for amazing, bomb-ass fried chicken and collard greens and cornbread.

Ansley+Eudy.jpg

Ansley Eudy

Never passing up an opportunity for a laugh or a big hug, you can find Ansley, complete with her Atlanta accent and ray-of-sunshine-personality in Brooklyn.

Born and raised in Georgia, Ansley spent most of her early twenties living on the beautiful Florida panhandle and spent a little over a year in Charlotte, NC before finally planting her roots and her heart in Brooklyn.  When she’s not behind-the-scenes for Girl and The, she’s very likely to be holding a baby somewhere, organizing a closet, or jogging in Prospect Park listening to her favorite trap music or psychology podcast.

Ansley brings attention detail, incredible penmanship, an obsession with streamlining processes and order to everything she touches, as well as a love for self-help and mental health. She’s a proponent of therapy and will encourage everyone she knows to never be afraid to ask for help or invest in their own wellness journey. Needless to say, she is an integral part of the team.
